In this Weekend Planner: do a little outdoor shopping in two distinct neighbourhoods; celebrate the end of Ontario Craft Beer Week with some more beer; vote for your favourite Sloan cover act; get as close as you can to the excitement at the IIFA; dress like the Great Gatsby; and commemorate last year’s G20 summit.

STREET FESTIVAL: The Eglinton Way Neighbourhood, a stretch of eclectic and high-end shopfronts along the northern end of Forest Hill, is hosting its annual Summer Sidewalk Sale with deals from restaurants and retailers lining the strip. You might find that perfect, highly coveted item you’ve been eyeing, at a much friendlier price. Eglinton Way Neighbourhood (Eglinton Avenue West, between Oriole Parkway and Chaplin Crescent), Saturday 11 a.m.–4 p.m., FREE.
BAZAAR: The Parkdale Bazaar is the perfect place to shop for treasures from local artists and retailers from the neighbourhood. And as part of Bike Month celebrations, it is also bicycle-themed, with artsy vintage boutique the Public Butter offering free bike tune-ups. Parkdale Town Square (intersection of Queen Street West and Cowan Avenue), Saturday 11 a.m.–5 p.m., FREE.
WRAP PARTY: The Ontario Craft Beer Week festivities end this weekend with Session 99, a wrap party that’ll be kicked off by a toast from the Brooklyn Brewery’s Garrett Oliver and will also include: food vendors; a cooking stage; musical accompaniment by Jason Collett, NQ Arbuckle, New Country Rehab; and a sideshow by Blue Mushroom Circus. 99 Sudbury (99 Sudbury Street), Saturday noon–9 p.m., FREE.
FESTIVAL: The International Indian Film Academy Awards, the equivalent of the Oscars for Bollywood, is happening in our fair city this weekend, and to celebrate, the space outside the Rogers Centre will be transformed into an outdoor festival embracing the elements of Earth, Wind, Air, and Fire. Entitled Samsāra, meaning “to perpetually wander” in Sanskrit, the space outside the Rogers Centre will reflect the excitement inside with outdoor art, music, percussion, and dance. Rogers Centre and surrounding area (1 Blue Jays Way), Saturday 2 p.m.–8 p.m., FREE.
PARTY: Inspired by the parties of the Jazz Age, the Spadina Museum is hosting a little celebration of summer with music, games, and refreshments associated with that era. The Spadina’s First Annual Garden Party will see the museum decked out as it would have been during the Golden Age, rife with sounds of jazz. Get out your flapper dresses and top hats and transport yourself to a different time. Spadina Museum (285 Spadina Road), Sunday noon, $5.
FILM: It is the one-year anniversary of the G20, and to keep it fresh in our minds, the REact: Solidarity Sunday event, part of the Parkdale Film and Video Showcase, will screen various films interpreting and reacting to last year’s events, as well other films about artistic protest. Opening remarks are by Dr. Kate Milberry, an expert on the democratization of technology as tool for social change. Second floor, the Rhino (1249 Queen Street West), Sunday 2 p.m., PWYC.
MUSIC: The Drake Hotel is hosting a different kind of “battle of the bands’ series called Band Practice Volume 1. Tonight’s Canadian covers theme is the music of Sloan. Musicians will show up at the Drake in the morning, form a band, choose songs, rehearse, and publicly compete for a cash prize that very night. Maybe there’ll be extra points given to whoever can do the best Chris Murphy scissor kick! Drake Hotel (1150 Queen Street West), Sunday 9 p.m., PWYC. UPDATE: The Drake has postponed this event until July 5.

CORRECTION: June 25, 11:04 AM We originally listed The Drake’s Band Practice Volume 1 event as being on Saturday; it’s actually on Sunday. The post has been amended to reflect this.
